Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha is a fresh water lake, the highest of all the Rift Valley lakes in Kenya. Much of the lake is surrounded by forests of the yellow barked Acacia Xanthophlea, known as the yellow fever tree. These forests abound with bird life and Naivasha is known as a world class birding destination.

There are great day trips to do from Lake Naivasha, including visiting Hell's Gate National Park and Elsamere - former home of Joy Adamson (author of 'Born Free'). Continuing on South Lake Road past Elsamere, look out for the signage directing you to the emerald Crater Lake.

A narrow causeway links the mainland to Crescent Island, a wildlife sanctuary where visitors can walk and view a variety of African Widlife such as giraffes, zebras, gazelles and bat – eared foxes.
