Safari itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Amboseli National Park Safari

Leave Nairobi early in the morning and drive to Amboseli National Park, enjoying the beautiful scenery of Kenya’s unique landscapes en-route. Upon arrival at your pre-booked Safari Camp/Lodge you will be warmly welcomed by the reception staff with a glass of fresh fruit juice and an cold and tightly rolled wash cloth to wipe the dust from your face and hands - a disarming experience on its own. After completing check-in formalities you will be given a short briefing about the do's and don'ts then be lead to your tents/rooms for refreshment and a short rest before having your lunch which in most cases is served in buffet style and consists of delicious authentic Kenyan meals and international cuisines. You first afternoon game drive for the 3 Days Amboseli Safari follows after a short afternoon rest. By sundown you would have seen a wide variety of wild animals with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background (weather permitting). Dinner and overnight at the lodge/camp. 

Amboseli National Park covers an area of 392 square km and is located 260km (4.5 hours drive) from Nairobi and 320 kilometers from Mombasa (almost 7.5 hours drive). This park forms part of the much larger 3,000 square km Amboseli ecosystem. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, open plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bush country, swamps and marshland. The park offers a wide variety of wildlife but the principal attraction is its vast herds of elephant whseo study have shown that they exhibit intricate and complicated social structures which are incredibly similar to humans. The bull elephants here have some of the largest tusks in Kenya. Other game include zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, impala, leopard, caracal and serval cat.  

Day 2: Full Day Amboseli Safari

After an early breakfast set off on a full day Safari game drive  in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in search of elephants, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, lions and various antelopes. Siku Njema Tours and Safaris driver guide will take you through diverse habitats that range from grasslands to swamplands, which are home to an abundance of wildlife. This full day Safari will immerse you into nature and place you within safe distance of plains game and thus give you exceptional photographic opportunities. 

We will have our picnic lunch at the Observation Hill - the highest elevation point in the park that affords it's visitors 360 degrees view of park and the swamp below where elephants love to wallow and hippos lounge. After lunch we will enjoy another game drive before heading back to our lodge/camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Amboseli - Nairobi

After breakfast depart for Nairobi with game viewing en-route. Arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon and drop off at your hotel.

Getting to Amboseli National Park

Via Mombasa - Nairobi Highway you brach off and take the Olitokitoki road and through a rough road you access Amboseli National Park via the Erimito and further South towards Olitokitok town, the Kimana Gate. Along the Nairobi/Arusha Road via Namanga, the park can be accessed through the Meshanani Gate. From tourists arriving by air Amboseli has an airstrip - the Empusel Gate.
